The gesture of reaching and grasping requires the integration of the trunk, arms and hand movements in a smooth motion. The execution of these movements is modified in patients with spastic hemiparesis. In this work we make a dynamic analysis of the upper limb of this gesture in people who suffered a stroke . Most of the work on the gesture does not have information on net muscle moments and powers, which are important for make a more accurate analysis of the movement. From this analysis we can identify abnormalities in the gesture. This paper models the upper limb and evaluating the angles, forces, net moments and net muscle power during the gesture of reaching and grasping in patients and a control subjects group. This model may be useful in rehabilitation programs for patients with disabilities in the upper limb, such as stroke. Furthermore, the complementary use of these models will allow more effectively estimate the problem to try and quantify the degree of injury in terms of motor skills. For example you could program rehabilitation routines considers the dynamic information of muscle activity during a standard gesture of daily living such as reaching and grasping
