Resumen
This paper presents a methodology for the development of a mammographic phantom, using a combination of three basic constituents whose quantity, within limits, can be independently adjusted. Protein is supplied by the use of collagen (cow) mixed with water to form a gel, and the lipid can be supplied using vegetable fats. The microcalcifications were inserted in the phantom using calcium carbonate (oyster shell). The phantom is flexible in order to allow variations in the composition of the structures and also the microcalcifications positioning. This allowed the verification of microcalcifications displacements depending on the composition of the material around them and the applied compression.
