Resumen

Formulation of models describing the participation of the basal ganglia (GB) in action selection is limited by suppositions and simplifications necessary to replicate the biological system properties. However, the study of functional connectivity by functional magnetic resonance (RMNf), allow us to characterize the dynamics of the GB-thalamus-cortex circuitry. The aim of the present work is to simulate the GB-thalamus-cortex circuitry interaction in motor program selection, supported by functional connectivity pattern obtained by RMNf. Determination of connections weights between neural populations by RMNf, contributed to a more realistic formulation of the model and allowed to describe the participation of the GB in motor program selection and the changes in Parkinson disease. The simulation allowed to demonstrate that a dopamine depletion upper to 40% leads to a loss of action selection ability.
