Resumen


Heart diseases are one of the most frequent causes of death in Cuba and the rest of the world. Our work consists on the implementation of an algorithm for the practical segmentation of the aorta, aiming to an actual productive environment. This is a non-trivial task. Although there are already many successful works on this field, most of them are experimental results. Here, we show a 3-dimensional algorithm for the automatic segmentation of the aorta implemented on our system. Such algorithm proves to be self-sufficient, asking the specialist only to point out a few parameters. It also allows a trade-off between speed and accuracy to be selected by the user, which is very important in a productive environment.
