Resumen


Hypertension (HBP) can appear from childhood and together with others vascular risk factors like body mass index, a family background of hypertension, active or passive consumption of tobacco and psychological or physical stress, it increases the morbility and  mortality or their development in the adult age. This paper reports the results of a research project with the goal of achieving early detection of the HBP symptoms and the adoption of right therapies for its treatment, both aspects being of primary importance for the health system. This investigation about the incidence HBP and vascular risk was performed with children from the city of Santa Clara, Villa Clara, Cuba. It was carried out by a multidisciplinary committee of experts who made a clinical history for each subject, that included measurements of blood pressure values, physical exam and complementary studies consisting in labora-tory tests and others like EKG and ECHO Doppler. The most outstanding results are the detection of 35.3% of children between 8 and 11 years with pre-hypertension or hypertension, dispersion of the P wave and finding of the influence of the vascular hyperreactivity. An automated reasoning software was built for the diagnosis of the hypertension.
