Resumen

For the construction of an orthotic or prosthetic device used different materials, in the case of the socket, which is attached to the stump, are used thermoplastics. However, the item is damaged by low stiffness, fatigue and in some cases, technicians use reinforcement techniques are not suitable for non-compatibility of materials. This research presents an alternative construction of parts for orthotic or prosthetic with the application of polymer matrix composites reinforced with fibers. To determine the mechanical properties of the com-pounds were used to ASTM D 3039, also developed a testing machine developed items to assess the performance of the element to impact and cyclic loads. Similarly, we developed a methodology for the processing of raw materials which con-tribute to the development of the technical area in our country. The investigation showed that the manufacturing system has a good feasibility study to be implemented in Colombia and all combinations of materials studied, the system showed the best characteristics for the manufacture of orthotic and prosthetic are comprised of vinylester resin and carbon fiber.
