Resumen

Modern immunoassay techniques generally use fluorogenic or chromogenic markers to detect the presence of the antigen-antibody reaction. For this, a fluorescence or absorbance reader is required at the final phase of the technique execution for the quantitative or qualitative determination of the target analyte. The plate reader of SUMA technology is a multi-channel fluorimeter-photometer designed for the measurement of resultant light signals at the final stage of diagnostic tests, developed for the detection of diverse health alterations. This equipment allows measuring the fluorescence issued by samples of fluorescent substances placed on a 96 wells plate specially designed to admit small volumes within the range 5-30 microliters. Besides, it allows mesuring absorbance in polystyrene wells or wells from other materials of a transparent bottom, empowering its versatility. It may operate either in an autonomous or controlled form from a computer, with software capable of bringing additional features. Its design is addressed to operate in laboratories of medium and high capacity concerning sample processing. This project describes the design of an electronic system with microcontroller, for the control of the different blocks of SUMA technology plate reader.
