Resumen


The framework of this work is the Medical Image Processing for quality assessment. The same one consists of developing a phantom, a software and a protocol to evaluate the image quality of mammography equipment.

The test element used for this analysis is an edge phantom mounted on a block of acrylic (polymethylmethacrylate) of 40mm thick.

The software allows the measurement of parameters that assess the characteristics of an image, such as: the Modulation Transfer Function, Contrast to Noise Ratio and Uniformity. To implement the software, the films acquired with the phantom should be scanned to convert them to digital format. The protocol aims to unify the conditions under which images are acquired for their further evaluation.

Previously, a study of the background in terms of image quality control in mammography was realized, in Argentina and other international organizations. This takes into account their weaknesses to make the protocol proposed in this paper.

Once defined the procedure for the study, the captures were realized in five centers of health of the province of San Juan. The results are shown using tables and graphics.
