The aim of the present work was to development an in situ preparation of chitosan/apatite nanocomposites and evaluate the bioactivity, physiological stability and enzymatic biodegradation of nanocomposites chitosan-hydroxyapatite. Composites of different chitosan/hydroxyapatite ratios were prepared by wet chemical using different kinds of chitosan. The method of preparation used to obtain composites in this work it could be more attractive because it allows more homogeneous systems and control the composition and structure of the resulting materials. A relative bioactive of the studied material was found due to the apatite structure morphology layer with calcium and phosphate ions on its surface after it has being immersed in simulated body fluid (SBF). A deceasing physiological stability was found for composites in comparison with apatite. The differences in molecular weight and deacetylation degrees of the samples used in this study were not reflected in significant differences as to its body stability. It was demonstrated that the chitosan polymeric matrix incorporation allows obtaining composites with bioresorbible properties as a result of enzymatic biodegradation process. It was also observed that composites with low weight chitosan showed better in vitro properties than another kind of chitosan employed. A potential material for guided bone tissue engineering applications has been development.
