Resumen

Results are given after submitting 1 cm3 of total blood, containing ethylendiamine tetra acetic acid as anticoagulant (EDTA) to the action of a magnetostatic field of 300(microtesla) and 110mT (measured with a magnetometer OXFORD INSTRUMENTS 3001. Max. applied field: 1.6T. Sensibility: 10-5 emu). In both cases, the magnet was oriented in both directions with respect to the surface of the blood: perpendicular and co-linear. Samples are collected at different intervals during the irradiation. Then, they were extended, fixed and colored with Giemsa, as usual. Red blood cells are observed through a clinic microscope, with enlargement of 10x ocular lens, objective 100/1,25 and 400 erythrocytes are observed per field under physiological conditions. Deformities are shown and a brief theoretical discussion is conducted about results, using phospholipids model of membrane, considering that the lipid molecule behaves as a molecular magnetic dipole, which is generated by the rotation of the electric charges centers non coincident in the polar head. Morphological modifications of the erythrocitary membrane are analyzed, probably due to the increase of the lipid Flip Flop caused by the action a magnetic field.
