Doppler ultrasound measurements are used to analyze flow in blood vessels during surgeries of bypass. Such analysis allows the evaluation of the quality of the implanted vessel and the surgical process in general. Based on the periodicity of the signals, an averaging method is used to improve the signal to noise ratio. In this paper, we introduce a modification to previous methods by detecting the artifacts in those signals and excluding them from the averaging. This is based in comparison with the noise level in real time, which is an advantage to previous works since the noise level is more stable and easier to estimate. A criterion to balance the tradeoff between the measurement whole time and the quality of the results is also presented, which solves a critical issue in surgeries.
